Pfeifer dairy farms circa 1950

An aerial view of the main farm in the mid 1900’s

It all began in 2015.

Or, rather, 1903 when Ethan’s Great-Great Grandpa Edward Pfeifer moved to the farm.

We didn’t start out as a vegetable farm and it took 112 years to get started growing vegetables.

From 1911 until the 1960’s Pfeifer Farms had many manner of livestock and crops on the farm. From dairy, to pigs, to sheep. Until in the 60’s when Ethan’s Grandpa and Great Grandpa decided to specialize in the dairy industry. Meanwhile Ethan’s father was born on a orchard and produce farm in Indiana in the late 60’s. While growing up, the farm reached a whopping 30 acres of pick-your-own strawberries. However, his love was always managing the row crops so when he got married in 1991 he moved to Ohio to join in on the dairy and row crop operation.

Ethan grew up on the dairy doing every job imaginable from milking cows, to feeding calves, to helping make hay, and shelling corn. However he always enjoyed visiting his retired grandparents and helping them out with their market garden and selling at farmer’s markets during the summer.

Now fast forward to 2015.

Ethan convinced his parents to let him try out growing vegetables as he ordered his first trees and planted his first strawberry plants. Originally going at it alone, over the years as the operation has grown Ethan and his family decided it would be best if they merged the vegetable business back in with the family farm to pool their resources to better help serve not only their own farm market but other customers as well.

Now encompassing 10 different fruit and vegetables, over 45 acres of production, and multiple food safety standards we look forward to helping you with your produce needs.

Following our ninth growing season we are as excited as ever to continue to serve our existing customers as well as new ones looking to 2024 and beyond.
